Born in February 1960 at Tyldesley, Manchester and with encouragement from a musical family, Pete has been playing piano since the age of 4. He is well respected in the organ/keyboard business with which he has been associated for over 28 years and is currently promoting Ketron and Korg Keyboard ranges nationwide. He started playing semi professionally in the northern working men's clubs in 1975 to 1995 backing cabaret artistes. His love of organs and keyboards took him around the North West in the 80’s and 90’s visiting Organ Societies and AOE festivals where he proved very popular, and now, after a nine year break, he is being welcomed back on the circuit with a new show.
One of the most versatile player/performers around, Pete Shaw has recently had his all round musical talents channelled when he was asked be Musical Director/Studio Producer of the All New Theatre Road show version of Granada TV’s ’Stars In Their Eyes. He was responsible for putting the artistes and musicians through their paces, the hard work certainly paid off with the end result appearing at Her Majesty’s Theatre in London to rave reviews about the show which starts touring the UK soon.
As well as working solo, Pete has been working with his wife Yvonne in a successful dance /cabaret duo called SAREMMA since 1994 to date (the name incidentally comes from his daughters Sarah and Emma) !! Because of their wide variation of music, the duo perform at many Dinner Dance functions nationwide, and have recently picked up two BEST DUO awards from the 2003 City of Culture - Liverpool.
When a promotion company approached them to do 1 of 2 line dancing albums with other well known established country singers their own track of a beautiful waltz ballad called ’Reach’ hit the UK line dancing charts at Number 4.
Pete has just put the finishing touches to his brand new studio that he has rebuilt since his move to North Wales in December 2002. PC based hard disk recording is at the heart of the studio with Ketron, Korg, and Yamaha keyboards forming the main midi sounds, along with 24 audio tracks available for vocal and instrument recording. Demand is still high for his quality tracks and arrangements - by fellow musicians, and artistes alike.
Pete's pride and joy is his 1965 Lowrey Heritage which he keeps at home with a 145 Leslie. He took this out of retirement for Caister in April 2004 and it was well received by punters and other artistes.
In his leisure time (not a lot) he plays competitive crown green bowls for his village team throughout the spring and summer.
Pete will also be featured at the following festivals this year.
